Amazon Service Could Make or Break Naturalized Americans’ Citizenship

An artificial intelligence (AI) program that purportedly searches for “derogatory” content in naturalized Americans’ social media accounts could serve as a means of revoking their citizenship, Daily Mail reports.

“The program, called ATLAS, is used by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and is hosted on servers owned by web e-commerce giant Amazon,” Daily Mail said.

The program is supposed to use a combination of fingerprints and FBI watch lists to determine who might not be fit to keep their citizenship, but critics say the datasets are too broad and could unfairly target persons who are not security threats.
