With coronavirus cases up a little, Santa Cruz County, California, has decided to mandate mask wearing in private homes, effective November 22, 2021.
The county’s case numbers are lower than they were in the summer, but Santa Cruz County’s health officer, Dr. Gail Newel, said the action is necessary because a winter surge could be a “significant threat” to the community’s health and safety.
You can take off the mask to eat or drink, but otherwise the new edict says you must keep it on if you’re getting together in a private home where people who don’t live in the home are gathered, regardless of vaccination status.
